Terry Ledbetter co-founded State National Companies in 1973 and is State National's Chairman and CEO. Terry has been instrumental in State National's strategic planning throughout its history and is dedicated to enhancing and expanding the business. Under Terry's experienced leadership, State National has established strong relationships and an excellent reputation with business partners, rating agencies, and insurance regulators. Terry worked to develop a profitable and specialized business model that enabled the company to sustain a sound, stable, and consistent record of financial performance, positioning the company for continued growth. Terry received his B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University.
Matthew Freeman is President of State National Companies. In his role, Matthew oversees sales and services operations for both Program Services and Lender Services. He also plays a key role in the execution of business strategy, identification of merger and acquisition candidates and the development of new product lines. Previously, he served as President of QBE Mortgage & Lender Services and as Vice President of Corporate Strategy at CareMedic Systems. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Emory University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
David Hale joined the company in 1995 and currently serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. David provides strategic direction to both the Lender Services and Program Services segments. He leads the company's financial activities and corporate functions of IT and Human Resources. Previously, David worked in public accounting for eleven years in the insurance practices at KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers, and three years with Bank of America in the insurance commercial lending department. David received his B.B.A. from University of Texas at Arlington.
David Cleff joined State National in 2001 and currently serves as Executive Vice President of Business Affairs, General Counsel and Secretary. David's responsibilities in Program Services include customer relationship management, as well as sourcing and cultivating relationships with reinsurers/capacity providers. He also oversees all legal, compliance/regulatory, legislative and corporate governance functions for the company. Prior to joining State National, David held senior positions at American Founders Life Insurance Company and DeHayes Consulting Group. He received his B.A. from the University of California - Santa Barbara and his J.D. degree from the Santa Clara University School of Law.
John Pearson joined the company in 1996 and has served as Executive Vice President and National Sales Manager since 2005. His responsibilities include directing sales for our CPI business. Prior to joining State National, John held positions in banking at Manufacturers Hanover Trust in New York and the American Express Company. John received his B.A. from St. Bonaventure University and holds a master's degree in Industrial Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Trace Ledbetter joined State National in 1992 and currently serves as Executive Vice President, directing and overseeing the delivery of all services and products for Lender Services. Trace's responsibilities include customer relationship management, underwriting, profitability management, claims, marketing, training, the customer contact center and document processing. Prior to joining the company, he worked for the brokerage firm of Sedgewick James and obtained a Lloyds broker license. Trace received a B.A.A. from the American College in London, England.
Luke Ledbetter joined the company in 2010 and serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer for Program Services. Luke's responsibilities include expanding Program Services business and strengthening relationships with existing partners. Additionally, he is responsible for the program underwriting, credit underwriting and reinsurance functions. Luke obtained law degrees from The University of Texas School of Law and Cambridge University. Prior to joining State National, Luke practiced law with Baker Botts L.L.P., focusing on regulatory and government relations matters.
